Hey Chris...just getting our discussions going. As per our earlier emails, ive almost finished going through all the dialogues and we'll meet tomorrow to finalise what we think of the play as a whole and try to summarise it together. Good work on the translation for our dialogue "a guys advice on women" and it sounds like itll be an interesting one to do and manipulate!

Well, look forward to the meeting tomorrow and seeing what ideas we get.

Hey chris...good meeting today and i reckon we're to start memorising now after the few changes and additions we made to the dialogue...hopefully its a little more interesting now.

As per our discussion here is my summary of the first 5 dialogues. 'A Fated meeting meeting' sees ZL and LL meet for the first time (i think) at a cafe after they had previously chatted on line, where they chat about work, their web-forum and ZL makes a few jokes. 'Growing affections' sees a progression in their relationship, where ZL begins giving fancy compliments to LL on their way home from a date, perhaps creating an unwanted awkwardness on their relationship which comes out later.

'The jealous friend' is an interesting one where ZL and LL go to a restaurant with LL's best friend, who is not too fond of the way LL's relationship with ZL is affecting their friendship, and feels like a third wheel going out with them. ZL tries to comfort her by saying that she is still a very important part of ZL's life. It also seems that LL is trying to avoid any confrontation with her friend which appears a little strange. 'Lovers Spat' is a humorous dialogue where the couple are shopping and ZL's frustrations with LL indecisiveness leads to a little argument. It is also funny how quickly ZL tries to get out of this by immediately laying compliments but the conflict appears unresolved. 'Love Letter' is the beginning of the falling out between the couple, as LL stresses that she is sick of all ZL's compliments and prefers him to just be honest.

im pretty sure thats the basic gist of the play so far so look forward to seeing what u think of the final dialogues...

happy study!haha

Hey Nick - i think our new dialogue looks good - just to finish putting our dialogue in context, our section of the story really starts with 'an old flame', where Lili meets her ex and Zhang Liang starts to be intimidated by his wealth and success... that leads directly into 'a guys advice on women', in which you as Zhen Hua give Zhang Liang some pretty bad advice, building on Zhang LIang's suspicions until he thinks Lili is cheating on him. 'Scheming girls' continues the kind of entertaining trend of friends giving each other terrible advice, its more or less a side story where the girl from 'Jealous friend' encourages another girl to ask Zhang Liang out - which she begins to do 'The come-on', and it ends in a cliffhanger! Oh the drama...

Anyway like we discussed i think it would be great if we could spice it up a bit with a few props or something, but our dialogue doesn't really have a specific setting or lend itself to anything elaborate. Other than that, time to get practicing...

Hey chris...just a post to confirm that we're all good to start memorising and practising now for the performance - our dialogue is set and we both got a good idea of the play and the characters progressions etc. Ur summary was good - all the basics laid down clearly!

with props, i reckon the main way is just ganna be with clothes...i think ZL (you) work for a business or something, so maybe you could wear a suit with a loose tie or something to show that he's been having a rough day. Also my guys seems like a bit of bludger hippie type so i shud prob wear a backwards baseball cap and baggy shirt or something...dunno...we'll discuss it more next week. with the setting of it im also not sure yet. Maybe we could have at a coffee bar and they're meeting for lunch or something...or wat would prob b better if im just at home watching tv or something and u knock etc???i dunno...what do u suggest?

righto...going well so far...look forward to practising next week!
