KTV tracks? I just want the music, no words

大家好，

I'm looking for a resource where I can download chinese songs without lyrics.  I want to surprise my girlfriend with a few of her favorite Chinese songs, but I dong want to sing over 古巨基， 王力宏，周杰伦 or whoever.  Any help would be appreciated!  Thanks all :)

Hi Nial,

It is much easier to buy such CDs in China. If you have a fairly nice DVD machine you may even be able to turn off the background (原唱）.

I just checked Baidu for the singers you suggested, and couldn't find the non-vocal versions. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I thought of your request when I read this interview in Salon about the history and aesthetics of karaoke. I know it's not exactly pertinent to your request, but the guy makes a lot of good points.

It's no problem -- I don't live in China though, so that might be an issue.  I was able to get a KTV version of one song by 陈柏宇, and he's not as well known Leo Koo, Wong Lee Hom or Jay Chou... so I thought there must be a resource somewhere.  Thanks for your help!

Anyone else?
