Dog commands in Chinese

Hi,

I like to chat with my dogs in chinese - and the CPod lessons on dogs (especially dog personalities, int) have been nice help for that.

I was wondering though, if anyone could list off common phrases chinese people use to interact with their dogs?  For instance, in US we commonly say something like "here boy" to have the dog come, and talk about playing "fetch" and "tug of war."  When they do something well, we might say "good dog!"  Any such chinese phrases would be appreciated.  For example, I've taken to saying "laiguo" to make them come, is that the normal phrase?  Is "zuoxia" the right way to command "sit?"

Should have run a search for lessons first - a newbie one I hadn't studied answer a few questions - guolai for come, zuoxia for sit.

So my examples are clearly bad, but I think there are a wealth of other commands out there.;)

"here boy"=zhebian, "fetch"=jiezhu, and "tug of war.", actually, i don't understand this word meaning exactly.  "good dog!" = hao hai zi. this also meaning good boy.

um... coz i don't have a dog. i don't know what should i say more to a dog. Maybe u can ask more. :)

Thanks!  Tug of war is the game where the dog and I fight over an old sock - each pulling on one end.  Maybe its not commonly played in China?

How about - if you're giving a dog a "treat"?  What about "chew toy" - like a stuffed animal or squeaky thing they play with?  "bad dog"?  Would you call their "snout" "zuiba'?  Is petting them "mo1"?  What if they "lick" you?

Tim

tug of war is 拔河

I found a few commands but I think you have them all

No:不 bu
Sit:坐下(zuo xia)
Lay down:放下(fang xia)
Come:过来(guo lai)
Quiet:安靜(an jing)

I think the problem is that "pet lingo" may not be as evolved in China. Common phrases will develop as owning dogs as pets becomes more and more common. I did see many dog owners walking their dogs every morning (often in groups) during my last trip to SH.

English is the standard language at dog shows so many people in China train their dogs using commands in English.

rjberki - thanks, some of those are new for me, and your confirmation that the others are the appropriate words to use is very helpful.  Do you think you'd ever add a "ba" at the end of a command to a dog?

Sushan - interesting point, I hadn't thought of that.

@timsls

the dogs in China all speak Chinese - they seem to learn very quickly.  :-) Fortunately dogs are also very good at body language.

It is a good idea to keep your distance because there is a lot of rabies in China.
