For anyone who's discouraged that Chinese is a "difficult" language.  For anyone who feels like there's no point in learning Chinese except for fun or if you want to do business with China.

Here's an economic experts opinion on this.

Time will tell.  The term Pacific Century in English is often attributed Theodore Roosevelt, who combined being a man of action with a keen mind.  However, others attribute the term to a Japanese book.  Regardless, it certainly proved true, at least for the second half of the century.

The speaker does leave out many of China's neighbors who, though smaller, demonstrate many of the successful traits the speaker enumerates without the problems of a huge population still living in grinding poverty.  In fact, the term "Asian Century," (including the Pacific island nations) seems like a more appropriate term.

I wonder if it then just rotates back to Europe?
