Champing at the bit to use this new app here. But I can't get past the Authorize Application step. When I press the Authorize button, nothing happens. It seems like the button isn't live! Help!!

tvan,

We haven't added lesson management controls to the app yet, but you can do that through the website, and then resync your lessons.  Let me know if you need more help!

punterbababa,

Mate,I wish I could help more than this, but I'll just say that I just got it working fine and I'm wondering if it makes a difference that I updated my iPhone first to the latest OS version. The app states that it will work with 2.2.1 or later but I note that it also says it was iPhone OS 3.0 tested [I don't know if that means it wasn't tested on earlier versions or not].

CPod,

Awesome!。。非常感谢和祝你们们圣诞快乐。

All my phone OS is totally up to date. Its just that when the application kicks me out to the safari browsers to authorize the application, the authorize button just doesn't respond! I'm champing at the bit to use this. wwaaaaa!

我每问题下载这个程序,也美问题授权。(Is that how you say to "authorize" an App?)

@bababardwan, I thought you Aussies celebrated Christmas in July?

Cool.I knew the new android app was out and the iPhone one was coming but missed the announcement that the iPhone one was released...when did that happen?..is there a blog about it? Sounds like Xmas has come early.

I just downloaded it.  The only glitch was when I spelled my login wrong.  It seems to work off the network as well, which is important to us iTouch users.

@babardwan, two Christmases?  Sounds like you Aussies are ahead of the rest of us as usual.

Finally, I figured it out myself. Shame on me, it took 4 days.

I was trying to use the ipod to do it all. I'm guessing it has something to do with Safari on the ipod (touch 3.1.2). I put the token (web address) into a browser on my laptop, clicked authorize and everything started to work. 修好了。

现在我会下载pleco.

Yeah i also figured it out. Seems like the default setting was set to turn off javascript. After enabling the javascript I was able to authorize the application and now it is working like a charm.

Does anyone know how to delete lessons/shows as they're studied?  I seem to be accumulating them.

tvan,

其实,that is a relatively recent thing [seems to me only popular in the last decade or so,but bodawei may be able to set the record straight better than I].The reason for it of course is that nearly all our Christmas traditions originate in the Northern Hemisphere where many of the customs are winter associated activities, such as the yule log,and much of the fare.It has taken European Aussies a long time to adapt to our hot climate historically [such as the way historically we dressed] and we were still having the traditional hot Christmas roast in the middle of our summer. So the Christmas in July idea was to celebrate those Christmas traditions when it seemed more conducive to the season..our winter. However, this is a much smaller thing [usually just a meal with family and/or friends],is much more sporadic, and in no way has lessened the full celebration of Christmas here.So some people celebrate twice a year, hehe.

Sorry I can't help you guys any further than to say what I did. After I updated my iPhone,I just went to the App store on my iPhone, found the new app there and downloaded it..it just asked to be authorised which went without a hitch and I was up and running in no time. The only problem I see from my brief play with it today is that it took way longer to download the lesson than the mobile site did.I'm not sure why this is,but it did happen the two times I tried it [actually the first time seemed to stop downloading at 52% but then ended up playing ok,and the second time it stopped at 30 something percent and never seemed to finish ..just froze there ,so I went via the mobile site instead],so I would say let's not throw out the mobile site yet [which also has the community etc].I still have the quick review app which has the dictionary which this new app doesn't have ,and both have flashcards,so there is overlap there.I'm not sure if it would be better to amalgamate the 2 apps into one ,or whether this would slow the apps down or some other technical problem. But this new app is great in that you get the vocab and dialogue tabs and get to hear them too.
