Community Rankings Updated (2010)

It's a new year, and I realized we needed to update our rankings. We have plans to do more to reward active, positive contributors (see the Improving the ChinesePod Community Section post for more on that), but in the meantime, we just needed some simple updates.

We had to start with 2007 for the yearly data, because before then our system didn't link comments with user accounts (wow, it's hard to believe it used to be that way!).

It's interesting to see the changes over the years...  How Bazza became less active, how Changye shot to the top in 2008, how Henning and RJBerki have been supportive over the years, how I failed to keep up with our most active users since 2007, and, of course, Bababardwan's climb to the top.

Anyway, check it out!

But but...I do live "RIGHT" off of that road, very very close, not quite a ways. Haha, but I know what you mean.

I wondered about him too. He got into the Cantonese discussion 1 time and also Aunty Sue. What ever happened to her?

Hi Cassie & Rich,

good to see you guys are still around!!

Yeah, still around. I found out today, out of complete coincidence that I now live on the same road as Praxis/ChinesePod... just a bit south of it. I knew it was somewhere in the area, but was surprised so close. So that got me wondering if there were any meet-ups and searching for them, so started to miss ChinesePod so I'm back around.

Hi Cassie. No, I haven't heard from Bazza in ages... the last I saw of him was probably on Facebook over a year ago. How have you been?

oh, the last time i saw his comment was on the News and Features(interview with cassie). It has been a long time since then. I am doing good so far, just a little busy. I am going to have much time to addict to Cpod since the winter holiday is coming soon.^_^ How about you? Seems like you are in China now! What's your new plan here in China?

You should swing on by the office sometime! If you live on 万航渡路 and a bit south of us, I think I know the complex.

Actually I live on (well, right off of) 娄山关路 which seems to run directly south of ChinesePod. So yeah, I do plan to stop by and see you guys....if Jenny can respond to my message about when she'll be around since I didn't see her last time I stopped by in 2008.

It's so nice of you to say that Jenny. Even though personally I was shocked when I first saw myself there last year and realized just how much I was talking.

Jenny,感谢,你太善良,不过我真的不敢当。其实,我一点怕对你们的打算为积极帖子因为我觉得我帖子可能是负面评价。。可能整体负分。。不好意思。反正,我打算多中文,少胡说,哈哈 :)

Ha ha .. the exchange between Rich and Jason above about locations should be familiar to China-based poddies.  Most Chinese cities are quite unlike American and Australian cities in design (I won't say European because there is a similarity to older European cities.)  In China you have a broad swathe of development attached to a main road (your address). You can be located some considerable distance from the road that gives you an address.  Chinese cities seem to be constructed from main roads and lane-ways, and not much in between.  In the West we have a hierarchy of roads, most efficient for a society so reliant on the motor car.  With growing reliance on the motor car, Chinese city planners are trying to reshape a totally successful pattern into something that looks more like a Western city.  I can only watch with dismay.
