What is there to do after midnight in Beijing?

I'm sure the hip and trendy know.  In fact, I'm sure they do, and are too cool and hip to share such information with the unhip, uncool and untrendy.  But I thought i'd ask, as I reminisced about after midnight activities in LA and Honolulu.

Haha, I love the "frolicking" tag.

Only problem with this post is that only those who consider themselves hip and trendy will feel comfortable to make suggestions...

suxiaoya, good point. And I can't really amend this to say, what do the unhip, uncool, and lame do after midnight either. I guess I'll try and find something myself.

pretzellogic - seek out the unhip, uncool and lame, I say. The cool folks are far too busy being cool to actually have any fun (let alone to frolick!)

yeah, you're right.

Well, my school has a curfew, and as I'm staying in a student dormitory, I have to be in bed at 10pm everynight.

I'm not sure what sort of nightlife Beijing has to offer...

holy cow, when I was a student centuries ago... actually, now that I think about it, when I had roommates and lived in an off-campus apartment, that's when i really got to know what was open after midnight. Food, bowling, the beach, the runways near LAX, cruising... but when I lived at home, it was boredom city with family. No curfew, but there might as well have been.

Waigoren, what school are you attending?

It's all subjective anyway, so perhaps even those who consider themselves uncool can suggest some activities here?

I'd also love to know what goes on in Beijing, in case I get a chance to return this year, so let's hope some interesting ideas can be shared!

All I know is that midnight frolicking sounds like a lot of fun. Not sure if that's cool or even advisable/feasible in Beijing, Shanghai or anywhere, though :-)

For Shanghai, a lot of people head to www.smartshanghai.com as a default guide.

yeah, after-midnight frolicking sounds fun even to me. So far though, the only thing I know open 24 hours in Beijing are ATMs. Frolicking can be had there I suppose, but it will be on camera.
