December 3, 2010 at 5:33 PMI'm now going to associate 爽 (shuǎng / great) with the feeling of "a cold beer on a hot summer's day". Nice way remember it. Thanks, John!

December 2, 2010 at 3:24 PMThanks, Dino! I asked because it seems there are just so many words for 'worried' in Chinese, difficult to know when to use which word! I like this phrase though :-)

nǐ fā shénme chóu a?
Can this phrase be used in a respectful way, or is it more informal and laidback?

November 18, 2010 at 2:06 AMThanks, guys :-)
It was a pretty technical downhill, and I managed to tumble down and hit a few rocks on arrival at the bottom! Still, I don't regret racing (it's not like to walk the roads of Shanghai is much safer). Problem is, I don't necessarily trust the opinion of any one doctor here, so I'm going to get a second opinion on all this... aaarh 太麻烦了!!

November 15, 2010 at 10:40 AMAaah, good stuff! I'll be returning to the hospital tomorrow for a CTC scan on my fractured elbow (a rather unhappy running story from a weekend in Hangzhou)... I'll try to use some of this vocab :-)

November 8, 2010 at 6:41 AMLove this about China, too! A couple of months ago I walked past a group of middle-aged ladies who were slow-dancing to Britney Spears' "Hit Me Baby". They were really good!
