November 4, 2010 at 3:20 PMSebire, i'm really doing my best, but it's difficult: we are required at work to use English from the dark side!

November 4, 2010 at 4:11 AM"... the Americanization of Suxiaoya is going nicely". Noooooo, this cannot beeeee!!!! Seriously, that's a sensitive subject :-p
I wrote "gaggle" because the kids reminded me of a little line of goslings or ducklings following mother goose/duck into the water. They were all walking in a line with their costumes on, chatting and giggling. I suspect they were full of sugar.

November 1, 2010 at 2:44 AMFor the first time ever, I saw a gaggle of Chinese children out trick or treating last night in my compound. They were all dressed-up, so sweet! I guess Halloween is catching on here...

October 15, 2010 at 2:04 AMAw, lydia1981 - I don't feel quite so bad now, thanks! Shame to know others have fallen for it too, though. I guess that's exactly why they continue...
I wonder if these cowboys reserve their special scam for foreigners or whether unsuspecting locals fall victim too?

October 14, 2010 at 9:38 AMHaha, that's pretty much what I meant, yeah... :-)
I would just add, I do appreciate that this sort of thing happens all over the place, not just in China. Just that it gets kinda tiring after a while, especially when these exchanges often start out so amicably, as you say.

October 14, 2010 at 7:58 AMThanks for the support and advice, zhen! It's just not fair to gang up on unsuspecting foreign customers - four of them literally surrounded my chair! It's not like they were rude, but they put on the pressure.
Then, after all that, they had the cheek to ask me to pay a few extra hundred to get the VIP card! Can you believe it?
他们四个人合伙骗了我. 我还在生他们的气!
(does that make sense?!)
