Beautiful Chinese music

February 07, 2010 at 05:19 PM posted in General DiscussionThe most beautiful, sublime chinese music which I have heard is on the CD: "Masterpieces of Chinese Traditional Music" by the Chinese Instrumental Ensemble. It is arranged/orchestrated for a modern audience, and I think it is truly exceptional.
I've searched in vain for anything comparable. Does anyone know of any other similar CDs/instrumental groups etc ?

Phases of the moon
Classical chinese folk music
Spirit on two strings
Eleven centuries of traditional chinese music
The last one, is really quite different than the others ... but very interesting. I may buy a couple of these after previewing them for a bit. Thanks for the lead.
