December 7, 2019 at 12:51 AMWhat is the purpose of the colors in your flash cards? At first I thought it was stroke order dark to light, but that almost makes sense, but cannot be, please explain?

December 7, 2019 at 12:25 AMThis looks interesting. I'm in China, but work 3rd shift so do not go out to much. I am older too (age 43), so just a little slower then my 18 year old daughter who goes to Shenzhen University studying Chinese business and language. I have 80 HSK words memorized stroke for stroke, and have spent a good 5 min on the other using Skritter. But I know a lot of things from being here. However, we are not Chinese, we are Caucasian Americans here. I have leaned that Chinese is beyond difficult, but I am beyond determined. I think that if I absolutely master HSK 1, then that's the foundation I need to speak with.
Also, I am a business man here and have a little money. I have 10 paid programs, Du Chinese, Pieco, Drops, Lingodeer, Deer plus, HSK 1 Chinese simple, HSK Pro, Hello Chinese, and a full version of Rosetta Stone. My gf is Chinese, all my friends are Chinese too.I think it evolved into that. I thought that just Rosetta Stone would do the trick. Then I realized Chinese was difficult to speak right, So I created all 408 pinyin syllables printed them on business cards/flash cards. Every morning I grab 50 and read them into a recorder and then check myself. Then I realize that I cannot learn Chinese without learning how to read and write.
I wish I could snap my fingers and master HSK 1, but I must grind through it. Du Chinese seems like a fantastic reading program. They have plenty of HSK 1 reading material. Hello Chinese seems to be the best for me, love that program, it teaches you a lot. Well, I am determined and frustrated. I must break away. 90% of the expats here cannot speak Chinese, but all have tried. Nearly all give up. Just 10% or so break away. I will study hours per day, I will try. I am so determined. Hope your course is the ticket for me to break away. I am convinced that mastering HSK 1 is the hardest of all levels. I cannot imagine being able to read all of those HSK 1 articles on Du Chinese. HSK 2, I know nearly half of the words also, but have not really studied it. One step at a time.
I can tell just by looking at your face and your eyes, you are a passionate teacher... Anyways, this entire writing is my way of introducing myself. 我是 Danny... If I have any question, be sure to know that I will ask. Now time to study your program.

August 11, 2020 at 11:29 PMThis was beautiful! I really enjoyed this podcast. Such a simple way to teach, and just this concept/ simple words has opened me up a lot. I live in China and will practice this tomorrow. Thank you.
