This was a really tough lesson. Normally I can get through about 75% of an upper-intermediate dialogue without looking at the transcription, but in this one I had to check the text in almost every sentence to understand what was being said. A lot of densely-packed niche vocabulary, but I suppose it's useful to go through lessons like this once in a while!

Good lesson, I especially likedthe first voice actor. Only thing is the sentence "别跟着我吧。我想多练一下手臂" has been mistakenly cut into where the last sentence ("你......你不是刚来吗?卧推也没做几组就要走了啊") should be in the dialog audio.

This was a nice lesson -- as for the topic, most linguists agree that different languages probably don't influence your thought process differently, except in small ways like how we categorise things in our heads. Culture does heavily shape language and thought, and culture is so hard-baked into language that it can be difficult to separate the two when trying to figure out whether language is really influencing our thoughts.

Surprisingly the creator of Pinyin published the Pinyin writing system in 1958 and is still alive at age 110: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhou_Youguang

I agree that people from Chinese-speaking cultures can be surprisingly concerned with how adequate your clothes are when you go outside. I was in Taiwan last month where the daytime temperature was around 15-18 degrees, This is just sweater weather for me as someone from Scotland. My friend's Taiwanese family were completely astounded and went as far as to "ban" me from going outside without a heavier jacket.

If only all taxi drivers in Taiwan spoke this slowly and courteously.
