I live in Taiwan and people definitely use chi bao le ma (not mei) all the time, though I'm surprised this was put in the greetings for people you don't know well. It seems clearly reserved for very close friends/family. However there are times when complete strangers, (often a grandma) will ask me this. I've dated several younger Taiwanese women and they used it from time to time.

Hi, I am wondering about the vocab. word for "boring", we are told you can't use "wuliao" but there is no explanation for what the difference in usage between "wuliao" and "wuqu". The same for the words for happy? Which would I use if I wanted to say, for example, that a movie was boring? Is that also "wuqu"?

I also just want to note that as an elementary learner, I find it really unhelpful having 50% or more of the instructional dialogue given in full fluent Chinese which I can't understand at all, and just having to get the paraphrase translation from Fiona. It might be useful if she used simpler words and simpler explanations and then the translation was word for word the same, but as it is it just feels like I'm wasting a lot of time and missing out on important information.

Is it possible to download higher quality? I can't watch online because the connection is too slow and the videos don't apparently buffer down to slow connections. But the downloadable video is such low quality you can't hardly read the popups.
