Posted on: What Do You Do When You Rest?
February 1, 2017 at 2:54 AMGuys, love what you're doing. As I sit here, thought, I just thought up a great idea that would help me tremendously (and maybe others, too!). While I like the banter and small talk, sometimes (to be honest, more often than not!) I feel that there's more banter than there is actual Chinese lesson. [That used to drive me absolutely bananas when Ken was hosting ages ago....so much so I abandoned my subscription, but resumed after a brief hiatus. But I digress...]
So here's my idea....
How about some drills with a bit of silence after each drill to give us users time to formulate the response ourselves in our own heads (or, in my case, outloud in the car!)? For example, "Okay, let's do some translations to test you guys out, ready? Here we go, "while working". [5 second pause] 工作的时候, and so on..... get the idea? The idea is to give us time to translate ourselves! Maybe try it in both directions even!
I think this would be a fantastic way to push us into an active mode (as opposed to passive mode)!f
Like I said, you guys are the cream of the cream, so hopefully my humble suggestion might be useful in polishing an already fantastic product!
Sending you lots of sun and sand and palm trees from Los Angeles!

January 12, 2017 at 4:00 PMI have to say this lesson was one of your best: the length was perfect (longer than usual), the dialogue speed was understandable (more often than not they are too fast....even after having done the lesson), and enough examples were given. (Although I did find it odd you never translated guo as "have ever" (e.g. have you ever been to Beijing).
As I listen in my car in LA traffic, I have to say that the audio quaility of the videos is less desireable than the non-video versions. Just sayin'....
Great job, guys! Keep it up!
P.S. Is there a specific series on HSK at Chinesepod?

August 28, 2015 at 7:09 PMThank you for finally having a contemporary and useful reference to same-sex marriage! You should do a lesson dedicated to same-sex relationships covering basic terms (e.g. gay, lesbian, same-sex). I have had a hard time talking with my friend in Shanghai and walking her through the recent Supreme Court decision, etc.

August 17, 2015 at 1:46 PMI agree. The purple is too difficult to see. Also, I would suggest that the pinyin font size be increased. Really, really good idea this video thing, guys!

July 22, 2015 at 1:32 AM可不可以说:“我信邓,叫邓乐博。 邓小平的邓。“ But how can I introduce the 乐博 portion?

July 13, 2015 at 6:16 PMThere seems to be no .pdf of the dialogue. And the Class Materials link is broken. :-(
Posted on: Saying You're Angry: 生气
April 20, 2015 at 10:20 PMNot necessarily an "error". For some of us, that is a very good phrase. (PS. However, I'm very rarely angry at my husband. We have a great relationship! Now the kids, that's another story....LOL)

February 3, 2017 at 4:14 AMOk, so another question. I'm sitting for HSK4 in the Fall and was wondering if ChinesePod offers anything especially geared towards studying for HSK. Apologies in advance if it's already listed somewhere....I haven't been able to find it. Thanks!
