December 29, 2010 at 2:40 AMChina. Chinese society is still rather conservative and has retained strong family values. America has been on the decline ever since the Fed was set up. Entire cities are filing for bankruptsy, local industry is gone, and increase in drug use and crime makes most places unlivable. Accounting magic has turned our already bankrupt country into one giant ponzi scheme, where one overspeculated area forms a bubble, it pops, and the result is what we have today. Yes, I have been reading too much Alex Jones and I voted for Ron Paul. Learning Chinese for the future, here on Chinesepod! :D

December 28, 2010 at 4:53 AMI would argue that using too many colloquialism is in bad taste. Just imagine someone saying a random chengyu in every sentence. It also shows a lack of competence in a language when you rely so much on phrases and slang.

December 4, 2010 at 6:23 PMAccording to my classical Chinese class, when China was made up of small state-lets (国) each one would have a duke (公). The leader of "China" back then was the 王, but many 公 started to call themselves 王 because they did not respect the authority of the original 王. This changes in the Qin dynasty when the Qin Shi Huang Di took over China and made up the name 皇帝 to signify his authority. After that brief dynasty every subsequent emperor took on the name 皇帝。I don't believe you have any more people taking on the name of 王 after China was unified, but don't quote me on that ;)

December 29, 2010 at 2:53 AM我并不算专家，可是我觉得和美国政府工作或者当军人是最好的选择。美国的经济特别差，基本地有错误。有的人说没事儿，可是你就开门口去看看就知道现实。可是我已经发现了知道中文是个很好的敲门砖，你的中文也不错啊，你要是有个另外的技术，你一定会没问题发财阿!
