Jenny and Ken are talking about the origin of the word 'sheng1 yi4'. They trace it to 1800 years ago. But in English, both Ken and Jenny identified this period as the "Warring States Period", although in Chinese, Jenny correctly calls it "San1 Guo2" and Ken says "three kingdoms." But later on, Ken again calls it the "Warring States" period.
The Warring States period and the Three Kingdoms period are entirely different. Warring States ("Zhan4 Guo2 Shi2 Dai4") generally refers to the period between the Spring and Fall period ("Chun1 Qiu1 Shi2 Dai4") and the founding of the Qin dynasty in 221 BCE.
But I really like it that this sort of cultural information is included here...I think it was just a slip of the tongue!
