June 10, 2018 at 4:14 PMToo much Taiwanese Mandarin accent going on here. Unless ChinesePod is changing its focus I would say that you need more standard speaking instructors. I have Chinese teacher friends in HK that speak cleaner standard Mandarin (when teaching). More critical ear is needed when selecting the Chinese instructors. After hearing the new intermediate video with the new Jenny... I think there is hope for ChinesePod. :)

June 10, 2018 at 4:04 PM@GeorgLohrer you are right about the accents. My partner was born and raised in HK but his family is from Mainland. He speaks many dialects including Standard Mandarin. Upon hearing this video in the background, he asked me "so you are learning Taiwanese Mandarin now." The new intermediate video with "The New Jenny" seems a lot better. She may also be from Taiwan but her Mandarin is much more standard.

June 10, 2018 at 3:55 PMOk so this lesson is pretty good! I find Jenny's Mandarin to be very standard. This makes me so happy. My premium account expires today. I canceled it after seeing the video prior to this. If this in the new quality, and the hosts of the prior video and their non-standard accents are out... I will be back. I'm not sure about Grace speaking in the dialogs but I see tremendous potential as a quality host. #TeamTheNewJenny :)

June 22, 2018 at 4:13 PMWith the last 4 videos I feel that ChinesePod is not only back but better than it has been in the past four years. I personally was never the biggest fan of the last team. I appears that quality of learning is back to the days of Jenny & John, and Jenny & Ken now in a more modern format. I rejoined today. :)
