Posted on: Donald Trump Declares U.S. Exit from the JCPOA (Iran Deal)
June 1, 2018 at 6:39 PMOh, I will add one more thing. I found it kind of funny how the older host so confidently asserted things which were just wrong. The Iran deal was not ratified by the US congress, so in fact the President does have the authority to unilaterally exit the deal. However, foreign policy is a complicated subject, and it still has pedagogical value to hear people talk about things they don't really understand

June 1, 2018 at 6:10 PMNice! A new lesson. There’s certainly a lot of kinks to work out, but it’s a good start. I have at least one comment that I didn’t hear anyone else express: what happened to your voice actors? The dialogue was clearly not read by a professional voice actor and was rather stilted. Having good voice actors is honestly one of the main reasons I prefer Chinesepod to other similar products, so that is something I hope the company doesn’t skimp on. Other than that, I agree with most of the other comments, but mostly I'm just happy to see things starting up again. Also it’s nice to hear a northern accent for a change. 加油!

June 2, 2017 at 6:48 PMCan you use "你笑什么?" when joking around with friends, or does it sound harsh? Like if they make a teasing joke, could you say “你笑什么?<insert retort>"

October 28, 2016 at 2:12 AMVery helpful lesson! Keep the sarcasm coming. I need more ammunition to even the playing field when my girlfriend teases me in Mandarin

June 9, 2018 at 10:21 PMYay, another lesson. This one is a definite improvement over the last one. One thing that can be improved is that Jenny should try to avoid using English, and the English host can translate for her when necessary. 50/50 English/Chinese is probably best for this level. The other thing is that Jenny sometimes uses a southern accent when she’s not careful (cóng -> qong, zhan -> zan), which personally I find useful because I’m at the level where I’m trying to understand different accents, but might be confusing for intermediate learners
