May 7, 2017 at 6:59 PMAlways like to see new words and phrases introduced. 奢侈 and 袋车 are new to me. Lesson reminds me of one of my favorite sushi dishes in China. 龙虾 sushi brought out with the lobster still alive. The leftovers are taken away and brought back later as lobster soup. At around 500 RMB, this is only for special occasions.

April 22, 2017 at 7:21 PM哈哈,I would leave the 外国朋友 at the noodle shop. I'll bet his weak 肠胃 wouldn't allow him to eat 肠 or 胃 at the hotpot!
Off to take the HSK level 5 test tomorrow. Thanks for a final tuneup.

January 22, 2017 at 8:19 PMExcellent presentation on a very important and often overlooked topic. The video format really helps out.

January 2, 2017 at 5:56 PMGood content. Maybe can save time waiting for the attendant that speaks English.
Ordered pizza for several years from a store based on an advertisement handout. We were shocked when a local informed us that it was a fake "Pizza Hut" not associated with the real chain. It was delicious!

Posted on: Don't Drink and Drive!
December 4, 2016 at 6:51 PMJust recently experienced a sobriety checkpoint in Kunshan when we were returning from an outing at a seafood hotpot restaurant. Saw some unfortunate souls being detained. Many restaurant owners will help you hire a driver, who will put his little scooter in your car trunk so he can ride to his next customer. Many more people drive than before, but the pressure to participate in the drinking culture remains.

Posted on: Correct Erhu Posture
August 8, 2016 at 11:12 PMI stopped at one of the instrument shops south of People's Square when I was preparing to leave China and saw some amazing erhu's. I really wanted to buy one as a conversation piece, but sadly they all seemed to be constructed using some potentially endangered animal skin. I was afraid it would not make it through customs.
Great list of new words in this lesson.

May 16, 2017 at 10:20 PMI actually saw 大山 sitting at the bar at Cantina Agave on Fumin Road in Shanghai circa ~2010. My wife pointed him out to me. I had no idea at the time how well known he was.
