Hi Jenny - Thanks! I had guessed 雕刻南瓜,but it's good to know the correct (and best) way to say it. As for testing your carving skills, I would agree it's better to practice them on pumpkins than lecture hall desks. ;- ) There is one problem though: can you get pumpkins big enough for carving in China? Thanks again for the help - my students love you guys for helping me learn Chinese. :-D

You guys are a lifesaver! I'm an ESL teacher in the states, specializing in teaching Chinese residents, and tonight my "total beginner" class is combining with an advanced class (different teacher, no Chinese) for a demonstration of pumpkin carving and related vocabulary. I was beginning to panic, not knowing the Chinese words to explain what was happening, and I feared I wouldn't be able to find them online since it's an American holiday not really popular in China. Chinesepod to the rescue! You guys are awesome! One question: How do I say "carve a pumpkin" in Chinese? Thanks again for the great lesson. Keep up the great work!

Hmm... is it just me, or is this lesson somehow filled with a high speed recording of the Chipmunks? All the other podcasts seem to play fine for me, but this one is just full of squeaks, like a Chinese version of "Chipmunks On Caffeine." Any advice, or is this just a bug? Thanks!
