I am learning the 連...都 structure and in my textbook I came across this 得. Can you help me understand it?
This is the sentence: 「他高興得連身旁的車子都沒注意到。」
I see that it means: "He was so happy he didn't notice the cars around him." But I'm not sure how the 得 functions here. According to the Qing Wen, I think the 得 should always follow a verb, right? Then is 很高興 the verb in this sentence? And is this guy not noticing the cars the "adv"?
