June 16, 2017 at 8:45 AMSo far as I understand 单位 has to do with location and 部门 with organization.
位 means place, location 生产单位 production unit
门 means category 财会部门 finance department
An organizational department 部门 (Research) can be split on several locations 单位 (London, Shanghai).
A location 单位 (London) can house several departments 部门 (Research, Production, Sales).
I am not chinese, please correct me if I am wrong.

There are a lot of words in chinese with slight differences, a dictionnary is not helping to know which word is the most appropriate.
If you search in Pleco for instance the words of this lesson, you will find the following translation :
懂 understand, know
明白 understand, realize,know
了解 understand,comprehend, find out
知道 know,realize,aware of
这样 like this
The explanation in this lesson are very clear on the usage of each verb, this is a precious help we do not find anywhere else.

Apparently the dialogue did not choose the same pronounciation, is it a mistake or both are possible I do not know. I hope the teachers could clarify this point.

They are very old characters and generally refered as 天干 tiāngān Heavenly Stems.They were introduced during the Shang dynasty 1250 BC. At that time the chinese believed that there were 10 suns, one for each day of the week. And named each sun with these characters :
甲 jiǎ 乙 yǐ 丙 bǐng 丁 dīng 戊 wù 己 jǐ 庚 gēng 辛xīn 壬rén 癸 guǐ
Thereafter these characters were used for defining ordered list elements. I recently met them in a reading book to define the different levels ( newbie, elementary, intermediate,advanced).

January 3, 2017 at 10:37 AMIn english you can "play" all kind of musical instruments. In french it is the same you can "jouer toutes sortes d'instruments de musique".But in chinese you use differents verbs according to the kind of instrument:
弹钢琴 dàn gāngqín (piano) 弹吉他 dàn jítā (guitar) 弹琵琶 dàn pípá (pipa) 弹竖琴 dàn shùqín (harp)
打鼓 dǎ gǔ (drum)
吹笛子 chuī dízi (flute) 吹喇叭 chuī lǎbā (trumpet)
拉小提琴 lā xiǎotíqín (violin) 拉手风琴 lā shǒufēngqín (accordion) 拉二胡 lā èrhú (erhu)

In such situation I look both words at the site Jukuu which give a lot of examples and try to find out the differences.

The size of the LQ file is half the size of the audio lesson.
I always download the LQ files, I do not notice any quality difference on my PC, maybe with hifi player there is some difference.
