I don't think it was on my end, as all the annotations appear now and I haven't changed anything so I'm guessing they were fixed since my post. (Also given that the annotations for 项圈 and 启事 were also corrected since my post).

I frequently encounter words in the Dialogue tab that don't have English annotations when I mouse over them ... does this indicate a problem on my end?  I've tried using multiple browsers so I'm thinking not.  These are the ones missing in this lesson for me: every time 看到 appears, every time 脖子 appears, 戴 in Line 7, 丢了 in Line 9, 寻 in Line 12, 外面 in Line 12.

If it's indeed not on my end, then the whole tab is kind of a mess here.  In addition to the above missing annotations, 项圈 is annotated as "vast" and 启事 is annotated as "start."

...thanks for *your* responsiveness...

Thanks Tom. I don't normally pipe up when I see minor errors but I feel as though I've been seeing an uptick in sloppiness recently so I thought I would bring it to the staff's attention. I can't qualitatively prove the assertion, so take it for what it's worth. (I can say that just now I was over in the recent "Lost in the Mall" intermediate lesson, where the second line in the dialogue is “好像在八楼。我们一起上去吧。” But the 一起 is absent in the written rendition under the Dialgoue tab).

Anyway, thanks for responsiveness, and if I'm wrong, sorry for being obnoxious!

Under the dialogue tab, in the third line, the mouseover text for the second 牙 says "to gnash teeth."  Is that a typo or am I completely missing something?

明白了,谢谢。

你说得真巧,我在以色列出生的,的确是正宗的犹太人。

我想问一下, ‘正宗’ 跟 ‘地道’ 有什么区别?

By all means, proceed. As a Yank, I do believe in the 1st Amendment after all. I merely wanted to point out that with respect to particular opinions of yours that are wholly unrelated to the study of Chinese, there are probably a good number of users who find distasteful your use of this site as a forum for such opinions – in the off chance that you happen to be concerned with anything other than your own opinions, or your admittedly unfettered right to express them (such other things might include the sentiments, experiences, and enjoyment of other users). It's about venue, not content. But I think you know that.

It would be as if, I don't know, let's say I had a problem with what I perceived to be Australian attitudes towards refugees. In light of the fact that there may be Australian users who would be offended by my tirades, or who might not identify with the attitudes I resent, I would be hard-pressed to justify continuously ranting about it here. But that's just my ... personal opinion.

Looks like I was beat to it. Oh well.

Never written a comment before and there are few things I find more unsavory than meaningless internet arguments with total strangers. But I am after all paying for this product, and I find my Chinesepod experience to have been sufficiently diminished that I think I'll chime in.

I hope you can take this constructively, but Chinesepod is a venue to learn Chinese; I'm sure I'm not the only one who tires of your insatiable need to use the lesson pages as a forum for your personal opinions. Most obvious are your reflexive anti-American spasms, which can be triggered by something so innocuous as wotingyu's above post or John having the gall to use the word "re-up" in a lesson. The suggestion – even if misguided – that a paid service with employees based in the US might be able to tend to that service during US business hours, would only conjure up images of oblivious imperialist American cowboys to someone with an agenda and a need to be heard. Likewise, John has recorded thousands of hours of podcasts on this site, so I hardly think his use occasional use of what you perceive as an "Americanism" is grounds for a referendum on the arrogance of American hegemony.

It's surely safe to say that if bashing America and Americans is what helps you sleep at night, there are plenty of outlets on the web where you can find like-minded individuals and vent accordingly. (I don't find this to be one such outlet, although anyone can correct me if I'm wrong). And like I said, I really do mean this constructively. The first time I was willing to listen to a girlfriend point out some of my faults, it went a long way in helping me improve those faults. So although your activity on these forums suggests it is unlikely, I hope you take this as an opportunity for introspection rather than contention. Take care and good luck with your studies.
