I'm afraid not, it has quite a different inference. It can be positive or negative depending on the context.

Oh dear, just realised that now I've said that CPod will lay plans to remove the Lessons button so I can't do that any more!

May 3, 2010 at 4:01 AMYep, the 如果 is implied. It's extremely common in spoken Chinese to just imply a 如果 in a sentence like this. Basically there are 2 parts. Translate it literally just to consider the effect:
Recently buy stuff often make mistake (first part)
(if) have not bought fake, then just bought expensive. (second part)
