Hi guys! In my opinion the Google Pinyin interface is much slicker than any others I've tried, but quite apart from this it has several features which are very attractive. For example it will offer you the most popular words/characters based on how often they have been used by other people. It automatically updates itself using all the familiar power of the Google search engine. It will build a sentence as you type in a much more intuitive way than the MS one, and is correct much more often about what you actually want to type. It's just way more satisfying to use than the older IMEs.

If you download it and install it, it will be offered as a clickable language input method on your language bar in Windows, (sorry Macs and Linux etc I don't know about.) It won't I think be the default option unless you go into Control Panel and alter the settings in the Language part.

@baba - you mean my CPod inbox? Just did, don't see anything special?!

The Google Pinyin input method is much better than the MS one I think, and will also build up a probable sentence if you continue typing.

Hmm... I think I like my capital Cs bigger than that. Thanks for the info bro. Is it still not possible to adjust their size with CTRL and the + key?

Sorry to be a bore when everyone's so excited about playing with their equipment, but can I possibly get an answer re. my question about font size on the exercises page?

@matt - I can't download the dialogue by itself mate, the link is 'grayed out' and the pop-up says 'This is premium content.' Of course if you're offering me some kind of special deal, I'm all ears! Just let me know! ;-)

@rj - basic subscription is the podcast (you still have the choice of 'Radio Quality' or 'CD Quality'), and the PDF. Also the 'Activity Stream' I think, but I'm yet to try that out, (to be honest I'm the kind of person who doesn't generally enjoy 'live' messaging, I type too slowly!) Oh and the fun of posting here in the comments section. Err... that's it!

@chris - hi mate, if it's just connecting to CPod you're having trouble with, then try using this if you're not already doing so. I often get very slow download speeds and find they suddenly pick up after cleaning the computer with it.

I've been looking at the 'check this out' page. Well, I've been trying to. The exercise page will not load for me, and I've tried 3 different browsers. Anyway, never mind, can someone just tell me are the exercises still in that tiny eyestraining font that I recall from my trial week?

@orangina

I know exactly what you mean, if I was female I'd feel the same. I'm male by the way.

Um... I'm a basic subscriber, so sadly I don't see the exercises or expansion sentences! :(

I study the podcast and pdf quite intensively though. I cut the dialogue out of the podcast with a sound editor and play it repeatedly.

My general approach to learning languages is that if something works for a learner, if it increases ability, then it's useful, (for me personally I like to repeat what I hear. I'll pick a sentence, phrase or word and drill myself on it a dozen times or more before moving on. And of course I have the luxury of being able to practise with my Chinese wife!)

I've done another of my podcast transcripts for this lesson, it's viewable here.

It's most likely not perfect, but as usual I'm happy to share it. Thanks and/or feedback appreciated.
