March 22, 2015 at 9:11 PMSimply put, “多少” is used with something with a quantity greater than ten, "几“ is used when something is ten or below in quantity. So if you're talking about how much rent would be, you would use "多少" (每个月房租是多少钱?) but if you wanted to know how many rooms a place has you would use "几” as the question word. (这个房子有几间屋子?)
几 can also replace a number to mean several. It can be confusing at first to know if it is a question, or if it is a statement meaning several, so you must rely on the context to let you know which it is. "我有几个课本“ - I have several textbooks. vs "你有几个孩子?" - how many kids do you have?
Hope that helps

March 24, 2015 at 4:04 AMSince December has 31 days you would use 多少 because there are over 10 days, but because it only has 4 or so Sundays (depending on how the days fall I think thats right), you would use 几 for the second sentence because there are less than 10 Sundays. If you were to switch 几 out with 多少, the listener would understand you, but it would likely sound a little off.
