September 8, 2015 at 7:02 PMGreat lesson!!! I actually enjoyed hearing a non-native speaker speak with native speaker. I only wish I could speak with the confidence and at the level as Gwilym.
When you both were looking for the English word for 来回票, I was laughing saying roundtrip, roundtrip out loud in the car this morning LA time... but I see it is already in the PDF.
Thank you both!

September 16, 2015 at 10:52 PMWell I think this may be a very subjective topic and maybe not very important at least in my language learning experience.
My partner is native Chinese from Hangzhou and only in the states for 3 years. He is highly educated with degrees from both Zhejiang and UCLA and has almost completed a PhD at 22. He has been developing a Taiwanese accent himself since a very young child. (I know it sound crazy... but all my native Mandarin speaking friends think he is Taiwanese when they first meet him) He tells me that in his opinion Fiona sounds native Taiwanese. He says differences can always be detected even person to person if you look for it.
To be honest even if there are some possible minor differences it doesn't matter to me... I practice speaking daily with people from Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Xian, Zhengzhou Taipei and so on. They all sound so different to me at times. There is to many accents in Mandarin out there for me to even want to perfect one in isolation. I more concerned with understanding them all... LOL!
I appreciate much of 藍狗 advise on lesson discussion boards. So let all be friends!!!!!
