How did I not know about KTV Time? Although I'm no fan of KTV, I make a living singing in Guangzhou.  People always say "sing more Chinese songs", but when I ask which ones, no one ever answers!

Where were you guys last week!? 

After playing a concert, This Humble Student found himself at a new friend's wine bar.  A man kept coming over to our table to shake hands and 干 a few 杯s (this is red wine, mind you).  I had been holding my own until the boss and her friends started to called him 土豪, and then asked me (in that memorable Chinese way): 

"土豪, do you know?".

Anyway, about 6 days late for me, but thanks for a great lesson all the same!

Just talking to a Chinese friend who told me that she "works in government".  Naturally I put this [excellent] podcast to use and asked 什么时候入党的？ She didn't answer using 入，but rather 进。  Is one more formal/informal than the other in terms of joining something?

Alternatively, "inanimate carbon rod"?

Hi guys:

First time posting.

Yes, "非常不make sense": Dilu should be proud for saying it, and John should be proud for insisting it remain.  Just as interesting for me though is that just after that, Dilu explains that a good translation for 非常没有道理 is "doesn't make sense."

I've always found explaining the concept of "making sense" to some ESL learners as being needlessly complicated.  After listening to your lesson tonight, I realized that I've been priviliging my usage: doesn't make sense as meaning "incoherent or incomprehensible and not as meaning "advisible or reasonable."  

I've seen plenty of internet translations of the latter, but I'd like to see what I can get from Chinese Pod.
