Cool, I actually never heard it before in english language. I love sayings and metaphors... they really spices up the language I think.

Thank you RJ. Now I can use the "nut"-saying to my english speaking friends without being afraid of embarrassing someone... I learned that a nut is not always what I learned it to be when I was a school-boy ;)

Thank you James! This was a good and logical explanation. It really makes sense. Exept the part with the mobile-phone... I think most of my friends are emotional with their mobile-phones. I think they would say: 我爱我手机。。。

It really is great to begin to understand the language. I often do understand what it is about... but to understand the true meaning is hard I think. Mostly because the sentence-structure is so different.

Well, thanks again for "cracking the nut" for me... I guess that did not make much sense in english?? To crack a nut is a norwegian saying where the nut indicates a problem... and "cracking it" indicates to solve it. But it was not a hard nut for you was it??

大家好。我也有一个弟弟。他是三十八岁。 我弟弟不小。

I am relatively new here. This is my first posting on CP. I have to consider this is a milestone in my chinese studies. I have finally learned enough to be able to ask questions about this and that.

My question today is about the use of 的. Why is it not 我的弟弟? Is this because it is a person or are there any rules for use of 的? I have looked around without finding anything spesific about it.

Studying chinese on CP is great fun... and that is also why I am studying it... just for fun :)
