I agree with you. I also dislike this lesson format, and think in order to even consider this a proper lesson, it needs to have a transcript, because that's the most important piece. Vocabulary words in isolation are almost useless, and the Expansion section should be complementing the dialogue.

I've been studying Chinese for 6 years, so I think the difficulty is at my level, but I figure that there isn't a big difference to me listening to this and any other random thing in Chinese online.

Lessons like this are basically a waste, because any time that went into them is not being used by people like Mark and others who don't like this format.

Spoon-feeding ? I disagree

at the end of this lesson, I think Dilu was being a little weird. At around 11:20, John ask Dilu a question about female smokers in China, and she says "in America...". This really shouldn't have anything to do with America, so I didn't like that she was diverting the question to American smoking culture. Then John tries to ask the same question in a different way, when he asks her if she has ever been offered a cigarette by any women in China, and she says "yes, at work, but the women weren't Chinese".  That was just plain annoying and dumb, because the question is obviously about female Chinese smokers, not western or non-Chinese women in China. I think that should have been obvious. The end of this lesson could have been interesting, but Dilu ruined it. Whoever listens to the lessons before they're published should have insisted that they do the end over again.
