January 18, 2013 at 8:42 AMGreat lesson, but you cant expect everyone to understand the term 'beards'. Not everyone of your readers is American or even an English native speaker (I am German...) It took me quite some time to figure out that 'beards' is an American slang term.... You should explain that in your discussion. And the English translation talking about facial hair was even more confusing to me... I spent ages looking up Chinese words for 'beard', but never found the term 'tongqi' :-)
Oh, and by the way: I had some gay friends while I was in China. They all live abroad now, in the US or in Germany, they left their families to escape the pressure... But of course, thats only an option for very few gay Chinese or Chinese in general.
