My mom is very paranoid/superstitious about fans, being barefoot, drinking cold water, going to bed with wet hair etc... I've tried and tried to argue but it's not even worth the effort. Taking a stand against parents/elders is very disrespectful so you just have to suck it up. Better yet, just limit your time with them.
