June 22, 2018 at 8:51 AMI agree with schg as well: To say that this lesson is disappointing is an understatement. This is not the level of quality we have come to expect from ChinesePod -- not even close.
To elaborate on schg's criticisms, the dialogue is awkward not engaging and far too much time is spent on proper names. If proper names need to be translated (which is debatable), they should not take up much space in the dialogue. We don't listen to ChinesePod to learn how to translate Donald Trump into Chinese. We listen to ChinesePod for a more nuanced understanding of the language and culture.
In addition, the lesson completely lacked structure and the difficulty was inappropriate. I would categorize the presentation of this lesson (as opposed to the article) as not greater than Intermediate. The majority was spoken in English with cumbersome emphasis placed on vocabulary; the hosts spoke in a condescendingly sluggish manner.
To be honest, if this is the level of quality we can expect from the new team, I am not interested. I made the right decision to cancel my subscription.
