Ryanchild is correct. I live in Taiwan, they always laugh when i say tuduo for potato... they use 馬鈴薯 (mǎlíngshǔ) instead.
By the way, they also refer to steamed lettuce here as dalumei... my favorite Taiwan veggie is steamed sweet potato leaves which they lovingly refer to as taiwanmei...
