July 27, 2013 at 11:59 AMWhen I reviewed the translation of this sentence in the Grammar section 这么好的酒店，可是服务真差 zhème hǒu de jǐudiàn, kěshì fúwù zhēn chà. I did a double-take on the definition of 酒店 jǐudiàn as 'hotel’. I believe this should be ‘liquor store’ – funny. I had just learned some differences between bīnguǎn and lǔguǎn for hotel and thought -is this another definition?

March 14, 2013 at 2:37 AMI enjoyed the song and trying to understand the poetic use of some of these phrases. I did want to point out though that when I shared this with my Chinese teacher she said it is common in Beijing opera and other traditional acting for 2 women to play love scenes. Often one of the females lowers her voice as well to play the male part. I haven't seen the show but she assures me it is not homosexual. Just FYI :)

December 28, 2012 at 4:01 AMI hear Dilu saying búyòngxiè but throughout the lesson the pinyin is bùyòngxiè. I thought the rule was 2nd tone when bu precedes a 4th tone. Sometimes I see it as the neutral tone. Not sure what the rule is then or if it is just arbitrary. I'm sure it's a minor point, but just curious.
