September 24, 2012 at 1:28 PM'sometimes hard to find good sunblock.'
We used to find this too, particularly because most of the local product combines sunblock with whitener. But nowadays we see large stocks of Australian Cancer Council branded sunblock* - but hey, this is the big city hee hee. (Sorry George I recall you live in a smaller place; maybe this is not found outside the big cities.)
* I'm not sure of the significance of the brand - it has Cancer Council written in large upper case; looks very impressive.

September 18, 2012 at 2:36 AMoh thanks Justin - I couldn't see any News and Features posts there at the blog at all, but maybe that is because there has not been a News and Features edition for some time.

September 17, 2012 at 8:53 AMQuestion: I am wondering why News and Features are not available at the Blog? I always thought of these as a kind of advertisement for the paid material - but I am guessing that ChinesePod does not see it that way.

September 12, 2012 at 2:16 PMWhoops - SMH is off the hook - just noticed that the original article you posted Baba is also more than a year old. Hope I didn't besmirch the name of an august journal.

September 12, 2012 at 2:00 PMThere is another article in the China Daily about the Red Cross - it says that only 21 of 187 Red Cross societies globally have been certified by the International Federation. Interesting how many there are and how few are certified - bit like the six Apple stores that opened in Kunming last year that had forgotten to get an agreement with Apple.

September 12, 2012 at 1:53 PMHmmm, SMH (my favourite newsfeed) is not covering itself in glory here - the link to China Daily is an article more than a year old. The China Daily ran a lengthy article just last week on efforts made to restore the Red Cross reputation. It is a pity that we are so poorly served by mainstream media on the subject of China - quantity over quality.

September 12, 2012 at 1:39 PM'the initial wish criteria'
It may be, but it is a bit silly. helzcurrah is right - you could fit the jobs in in China in this category on one A4 sheet if you get my meaning. For instance, in public companies, the CEO of a China based international airline will work for less. House 2+ stories much more achievable ... :)

September 11, 2012 at 10:15 AMHey, these are cute little dogs ... you see a lot of child substitutes here - saw a lady yesterday wheeling her dog in what looked like a purpose-built dog pram. I felt like saying: 'madam - what you have there is a dog - it is designed for walking on its own four feet.'
I suspect that they don't want the dogs to get dirty feet - some are dressed in dog shoes.
Those ones John mentioned recently are popular here too - a middle size poodle with a brown wooly coat. I worry about all the dog breeds that go out of fashion.
