I enjoyed this lesson. John mentioned, at the beginning, that the structure of the rhetoric question was to use 难道 as a marker to start a "吗" question. In the examples there are three that do not end in "吗".
难道你没有时间？
难道你疯了？
难道你周末还要上班？
Is there a reason that these do not follow the pattern? Also, what is the purpose of the 了 after 疯？
Could that sentence also be said, 难道你疯吗？
我疯了,which means I'm mad,is the state that somebody is in."了"means something that already done.疯 is a verb in this sentence.The structure of the sentence won't complete if the absence of 了.
-吃饭了吗？
-我吃（过）饭了

难道你以为我们不接受你的意见了吗？(窃以为把“了”去掉会让句子更简洁)
nándào nǐ yǐwéi wǒmen bù jiēshòu nǐ de yìjiàn le ma?
What, did you really think we wouldn't take your advice?
你吃得怎么快！难道你从来没吃过饭吗?(换成“这么”;怎么一般是用来表示疑问的词，“这么”有点像-this的意思)
nǐ chī de zěnme kuài! nándào nǐ cóng lái měi chī guò fàn ma?
You eat so quickly! Have you never eaten food before?
难道我们不是最好朋友？ 告诉我吧!!(MARVELOUS:)
nándào wǒmen bù shì zuì hǎo péngyou? gàosù wǒ ba!!
Are we not best friends? Tell me!!
难道你从２００８一直住在小石子下面吗？(Under a rock-this should be a big rock,I guess,so in this case,rock should be interpret as 石头 or 岩石.石子is also the expression to small rocks.I think it's about 1.5 inch's big or smaller.)
nándào nǐ cóng 2008 yīzhǐ zhù zài xiǎo shízǐ xiàmiàn ma?
Have you been living under a rock since 2008?!

By the way, is it a wise crack to 'ask' someone:
难道你是白痴吗？ or is it terribly rude?
I don't have anyone in mind, but that seems like such a useful phrase!
:) yep,absolutely rude when you say this to a stranger.
