我同意你的想法,因为住在南京。你也住这儿吗?

One of the most notable times I remember being called 老外 was on a side street off the Bund. What was suprising wasn't being called that, but that I was living in 长春 and wouldn't have expected in Shanghai. My guess is that the Chinese couple who called me that were just as new to Shanghai as I was and probably had never seen so many foreigners before.

I enjoy hearing some of the British expressions that Jenny uses, like "ice lolly". It reminds me that I'm not done learning my native language either, nor is anyone.

The pinyin for 一会儿 is written as yīhuǐer, but I've seen yīhuìer written in dictionaries.

Wow, that helps a lot and makes complete sense. I'm familiar with 粒, but repetitions often catch me off guard in Mandarin.

Thanks, that was really informative. Blond/blonde and brunet/brunette instead of yellow and brown also pop up often for hair color.

What does Jenny say right before 3:00? It sounds like 一例一例, but that wouldn't make sense here. Thanks for any help.

Towards the end of the lesson, what was the translation for "I'm sorry for your loss." I know it's not what one would say, but I would like to know anyway.

What was the omitted word around 7:50? I didn't catch that.

Vancl? Does anyone have any idea how to pronounce this? Given that English is not entirely phonetic, perhaps I'll just pronounce it as 凡客 (fánkè). Would it really be that different from how "colonel" is pronounced |ˈkəːn(ə)l|?
