When you make pronouns possessive (i.e. wo de, ni de, ta de), does the 1-syllable/2-syllable rule still apply? Or do you always need the "de" in there when it's possessive?

Yes, thanks John. That clears it up. I think I've been mishearing 吃饭吗?as 你吃饭了吗? and, knowing the latter to be a greeting, been getting confused.

I have a question about "le".

If you go to a restaurant and the host outside asks "ni chi fan le ma?", is she asking if you have eaten already, so the answer would be "Mei chi le"? Or is she asking if you want to eat in that restaurant, so the answer should be "chi fan le"?
