June 1, 2010 at 7:18 AMI know that you posted this question more than 1 year ago, but I have another explanation for you. My tutor explained that you can use 怎么 in place of 为什么as a way to express some sense of disapproval. "你怎么骗我”?Why do you cheat me? or How could you cheat me?
Hope this helps in some way.

April 19, 2010 at 4:35 AMI know it is an old post but I found an error with Rich's sentence... 他输。。。“我没有前。” 但是 “前” should be “钱” for money. 前 是 前天的 前还是“前面” 的”前“。 “钱”=人民币=元。

March 28, 2010 at 6:07 AMThanks for this lesson. It was a great surprise to have an actual song. I plan to sing it to my friends' 3 year old tonight. What a great way to get a hang of the rhythm.

November 15, 2009 at 6:12 AM大家好。I was wondering if someone could help me understand the structure of the following sentence:
我要早点儿去公司。In the expansion section this is translated as "I have to go to the office early." I am hung up on the 早点儿. "early time"?
Thanks to the team for making the learning fun.

October 25, 2009 at 5:51 AMThank you Changye and Watermelon for your posts. I worked through this to some extent with my tutor this week. Getting a handle on all the things you can omit and the implications have been a little troublesome for me. Thanks a lot. It helps.

October 18, 2009 at 4:03 AMCan I get a little more explanation on the use of 看到 as it pertains to "saw"? Why do you follow this phrase with 的?Would it make sense if the sentence was rephrased to use 了to denote the completion of an action or one that took place in the past?

Thank you very much for the clarification. I don't know that it completely makes sense yet, but it gives more to think about.

June 21, 2009 at 2:55 AMGrammatically, why is the 'de' used at the end of the first sentence of the dialogue? Is it part of the possessive Ni3 de?

June 16, 2009 at 5:16 AMIn the supplemental vocab for this lesson why do you need to add "ge" in the phrase Ji3 ge yue4 (how many months), while the phrases ji3 tian1 (how many days) and ji3 nian2 (how many years) do not require the additional word?

June 6, 2010 at 7:55 AMHello all,
I have 2 grammar questions from this lesson:
1. What is the purpose of "都会“ in the sentence: "每节课都会这么做。“ ?
2. Why do you have to use "先是老师“ instead of “先老师“?
Thanks in adance for the help.
