hi bazza, you can, but it wouldnt be worth it.. there's too much to see.. you could get on a train for friday night and come back sunday evening (arriving monday-morning in time for work/school; in addition, these are pretty popular travel times and you will definitely get to experience a thing or two!). this way it saves you 2 nights of hotel and you will still have two full days of sightseeing (though for Beijing I would recommend to spread it out over 4 days)
