What is the correct character for lěng?  The 'dialogue' and 'vocabulary have it as 冷 but the 'lesson transcript' and Skitter have a different character---or is this just a font variation?

The proper position of the ü is almost like a whistle.  Make a tight rounded hole with your lips, dimples will form in your cheeks, the important part is the dimples, this is your signal that the position is correct.

After reading the discussion introduction, I thought this will be a novel lesson.

  "How do you greet your peeps?     Listen in to this podcast and get the lingo down, bro, in Mandarin."  


Hmmmm.  Away from the urbane exchanges and to the countryside we go. Perhaps a field trip to a chicken farm and some practical barnyard greetings. 

I expected a dialogue like this: 


A: Are the hens okay?

B: Yes, they're pecking at barnyard scraps but the rooster refuses to eat lately.

A: Bad rooster! Where's the chicken feed?

B: We ran out.  Long time no seed.



But no, bro.  Just practical pleasantries from the hood.

How is fu5 pronounced?

Is it foo as in "boo" as Jenny and John say or "fwaw" as in the dialogue?
