December 2, 2008 at 10:03 AM'What's The Story' is very useful - thanks. It would be so good if you provided a worksheet to go with it. The questions could be (1) true/false (2) missing words (3) multiple choice. Easy for you to do and it would give us an opportunity to focus our listening in order to complete the questions.

I'll be moving to Beijing, from Australia, for the next 8 months - hope to make some significant improvement then. I'll keep in mind your lesson on The Language Power Struggle. Thanks again,

Nice lesson. One VERY good thing about it was that many of the words I've learned though Chinese Pod were repeated here. It's a wonderful feeling to hear and recognize them in a NEW context. It would be wonderful if you picked a handful of words that we are about to hear and put them into simple sentences in a 'work-up' sheet. We, your students could read/learn those phrases BEFORE the lesson and thus be more prepared for what we are about to hear. I'm an English teacher and I know the value of this. It would be a very quick exercise for you guys and EXTREMELY helpful for us. Also pedagogically sound. What do you think?

October 7, 2008 at 10:19 AMI'm Australian so I live in the East or West - not sure about that one. What I am sure about is my hatred of patronizing cultures different to our own. This exchange sounds perfectly 'OK' to me! I agree with you Jenny - it's a Chinese style! Our Aussie fuwuyuans need to learn a thing or two. Maybe that's because we can't decide whether to be East or West. It's a pity that Chinese people here need to patronizing Western culture and Westerners in China need to do the same. Shame on us. Good lesson though. Thanks!
