Thought you might find it interesting to know that my grandfather, who was French-Canadian and a lefty, was forced by his teachers to switch to his right hand in his Ontario elementary school (maybe 70 years ago). As an adult, he ate with his left hand, was ambidextrous in his work, and wrote with his right hand (but his penmanship was always terrible!).
