By the way, there was a student at my high school about whom we joked that she ought to get "honourable mentions" for actually SURVIVING the annual school sports event. She wasn't not obese or ill, but she almost never did any exercise, so every time she was late for class she rushed in, face red as a tomato, and kept panting for the rest of the period. "listen to this here podcast" Ahh, the memories...Understanding people in the States who had a rather thick accent was extremely tough at first, as I had only been exposed to British accents (and the occasional telly series produced in the US) until I went there for business... "I was always the one who tripped over her own feet at long jump." Been there, done that. I tended do impressive, but completely unintentional stunts at school competitions, which gave me the reputation of being invincible as I never so much as strained a muscle or broke a single bone despite falling 9 ft to the ground from a platform etc. So glad that time is over. (Should I ever fall from a pole-mounted transformer - I'm an engineer - I doubt I'll be as lucky)

As someone who never excelled in PE (that's a euphemism, I usually got Cs or worse) though having an athletic build, every time I listen to CP podcasts about the upcoming aoyunhui and sports in general, my insides cramps with shame ;-) The following question is unrelated to the lesson, but I hope someone will answer nevertheless: I'm getting pretty desperate, because despite knowing all the characters, I can't make any sense of this sentence: "干嘛拉长着脸?" Could anyone please explain?
