Posted on: Which is better: China or the USA?
September 6, 2011 at 11:40 PMChina is definitely more exciting. I can see how people would see Australia as boring in comparison. But the influx of Chinese people to Australia in the last few years has been amazing. I guess cheap housing wins over excitement in the eyes of the Chinese people. Not only that, and I could be totally wrong on this, but I think the Chinese and Australian people are a more natural match in terms of respect for each others cultures. I've met more than a few Chinese people, mostly in my wife's family, that feel more accepted in Australia than in the US.
I also think Australia and America can be appealing to Chinese because these countries are laid back and not as stressful as life in China, especially in Australia, where we have free health care, thanks to a quasi socialist government we had in 1972, and the living standard is much more equal than China or the US. I've been to China and the US, the US in 2001 and China in 2010. In the US I was totally bored, it felt so culture less and disconnected. China was the opposite.
