Thankyou, I listened to the Pinyin Program, and I think I understand.

As I see it, pinyin "x" sounds somewhere in between "s" and "sh".. I'll keep this in mind.

Hi everyone

I am new here, I hope to learn enough Chinese for a backpacking journey this summer :)

I have a question about the pronunciation of "x". for example, in the word "xiexie". In the lesson, Jenny says "siesie", so that x is pronounced as "s".

But then in other opportunities (in the pinyin chart), x is pronounced as "sh", "xiexie" sounds like "shieshie".

Any ideas?
