ok thanks for the help :) shows that Chinese citizens very easily can change quite alot of cash in the bank, and if you do an international wire transfer from Bank of China you have to change the yuan to euro or somthing before the transfer anyway, so I might as well just make my chinese friend change a bunch of cash and bring it home

I've saved up some money here that Id like to bring back home in one way or another and my initial thought was to just open an account and do a simple transfer to my swedish account. I could not imagine that this would be a problem but luckily a friend gave me heads up on the hassle around transfers from yuan to foreign currency as a foreigner, e.g.

-if you come to china change a foreign currency into yuan you have to save the reciept because you might only be able to change back that same amount.

- there is a pretty small limit of RMB that you can bring out of the country

- if you want to do a transfer or change from yuan in a bank you need working visa, n stamps and shitloads of other paperwork from what Ive heard

- there are shady people with fanny packs walking around inside banks that can informally (read. illegaly) help foreigners change refered to as "yellow cows" (huang niu) which sound safe....not

Should I just get a chinese to change for me and bring a pile of cash back home? Can anyone confirm or reject these things Ive heard and maybe help me with tips on how to get my saved up yuan to europe one way or another.

Thanks aalot in advance

From what Ive understood the slight differences in pronunciation for -ng words where people from the south tend to say  学生xueshen whereas people from the north pronunce the ng sound a bit more (xuesheng). However the woman in the dialogue uses both what I though was southern pronunciation for 留学生liuxueshen and what I know is northern pronunciation 哪儿nar

is her accent inconsistent or did I just get sth wrong?

good lesson, the first Ive listened to in a while and I must say Im happy to hear that DiLu seems to do more talking around the topic than before, consistantly in chinese :)

I like when the amount of chinese in the lesson is kept to a maximum, of course still with thorough explanations and translations

jeeez take a chill pill will you. There are like a billion podcasts on this site of which the great majority are very culturally relevant. I assume you havent worked your way through the entire archive of elly lessons because then you would hopefully have progressed to intermediate. I don't agree with some of the people who constantly rip on every lesson that's not in the classroom format "my name is blablabla, nice to meet you mr. Li, I like your suit". The great variety and unpredicatbility is what makes Chinesepod, and funny or slightly wierd topics every once in a while does nothing but keep my interest up. Whether it's about zombies, rock-paper-scissors or cocaine the language points are always very well icorporated in the lessons, making them all useful.
