By coincidence I am writing from a villia in Florence Italy. booked for a week, 7 people including a small baby for about $160 per night. I travel a lot, and use airbnb a lot.

It does seem tha tometimes the photos have beend touched up, and the rooms are not as bright or elegant as they appear. Often the wifi can be sketchy. IN this villa, for excample, I have to sit at the end of the hallway to get good reception.

But the hosts typically friendly and go out of the way to be helpful. STaying in a private home, yields a better sense of the community and culture. Apart from saving money, there is the experience of immersion and opportunity to make friends that I usually don't find in sterile, rubber-stamped hotels.

Like John, I'll take advantage of freebies over comparable paid products. I am only subscribing here because it is better than anything else I've seen. I wonder how successful companies are selling foreign language lessons over the internet to Chinese students.

Maybe your wife would have some insight on that.

Interesting... I find it surprising that Dilu was so enthusiastic about not paying for Antivirus or similar softwares. I would think that working in a comparable circumstance, providing internet service in a market where there is so much out there for free, that she would appreciate fools such as I who willingly pay for intangibles. Just like Chinese Pod, antivirus providers have to support a staff who must continually keep up with their customers needs.

Some of the podcasts are inspired by the experiences of staff members. By any chance was this?
