July 27, 2013 at 9:52 PMThis is officially my favorite elementary lesson, and not just because of the joke. I usually can get through the other elementary lessons and complete the exercises pretty quickly, but this one is taking a while, which is good, since it is a bit more challenging. I especially like all the grammar involved and the 以为 cause/effect sentences. We could almost call it an 'upper elementary lesson'.
Can anyone else recommend other tough elementary lessons?

June 13, 2007 at 6:27 PMIs the romantic string music in the background of the dialogue supposed to be ambient cafe/bar music, or is it there for dramatic effect, like in an old movie? PS-Next series! You should send Zhang Liang to boot camp, make him less of a 'wuss', and then give him a happier ending in your next miniseries. :) ...Or will he be like Charlie Brown and be like the eternal loser in all the dialogues?

August 27, 2013 at 10:35 PMThis is a good lesson for me as I plan to travel to China next month and rent some bikes. Hopefully "zu" will also be understood for renting a room, too. I know that is not correct but I am trying to get by with 'survival Chinese', haha. ;-)
One question I have refers to the examples in the expansion section. One of them reads, (sorry, no pinyin on my dad's computer),
niu rou zenme mai?
Which Chinese Pod translates to, "How much does beef cost?" To me, it seems like this should mean something a bit sillier, "How does one (do you) buy beef?"
I am used to hearing zenme in questions such as "huochezhan zenme zou?" and so forth.
Is there a difference between the beef-related question and asking,
Niu rou duo xiao qian?
This is what I have always used to ask prices, and I am wondering if there are any differences.
